“Woman’s Day of Health” - February 28

Are you in the mood for a little winter break? NorthPointe is hosting a free “Woman’s Day of Health” on Saturday, February 28th from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. filled with speakers, demonstrations, spa treatments, motivational speakers, prizes and more. If it’s time to break away from your routine, you will enjoy the variety of opportunities available.

“This event is open to members as well as the community,” expresses Kristi Lambright, Director of NorthPointe Wellness. “We wanted to develop a special day filled with interesting topics to help women learn from our experts. We hope to have a day especially for men in the fall.”

The day starts at 9 a.m. with Dr. Paul Segal, Dermatologist with NorthPointe Clinic talking about new dermatological treatments. How can you care for your skin and keep it healthy and youthful? This, and most of the following presentations, will be in the NorthPointe Community Room

Other speakers throughout the day include: Sally Greer, Counseling Care therapist, on the topic of living your best life and personal effectiveness; Shannon Miller, personal trainer, on the topic of benefits of strength training; Kelly Leach, physical therapist, on the topic of improving your golf game; Dr. Maria Taveras, Cardiologist with Beloit Memorial Hospital, on what women need to know about their heart; Rose Schoon, mammogram technologist, on new digital mammography; and Mary Holden, NorthPointe Wellness member about her personal challenges and changing her life through exercise.

All the speakers will allow for a question and answer time at the end of their presentation. Women are the primary care givers for their families, however, sometimes they forget to focus on their own health. These topics are designed to give women more information to keep them healthy and active.

In addition, there will be information tables in the NorthPointe atrium at scheduled times during the day. Gayle McManus, physical therapist, will offer posture screenings and osteoporosis information to help you care for your bones from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. The American Heart Association and American Cancer Society will also have experts and information for you on preventing these diseases.

If you are thinking your day of health should include a little pampering, then NorthPointe also has something for you. NorthPointe Spa will offer paraffin waxes for your hands to shed some of your winter dryness and fully revitalize your hands from 9- 11 a.m.

“We are also offering some special fitness classes that day,” continues Lambright. “Since the classes have limited space, we are asking for non-members to purchase a $15 daily guest pass. We are offering a special “Mommy and Me Yoga” Class (please call for registration), A Women’s Self-Defense Class, aqua classes and more. We hope this day will help women increase their energy and vitality and improve their health.”

There will be drawings for prizes, as well, and no enrollment fee for those who sign up for a membership that day.
